Tiny House Experiment…

Have you heard of Tiny Houses?  Many people are dumping their things and making the choice to live with less.  I have been intrigued ever since I first heard of this.  At the moment we live in home that would not fit into the Tiny House category (although considered small to american standards), I thought it would be amazing to purge our house of all our stuff.  Our guidelines are, could I fit this in a 300 square foot home? Keep in mind that we have 2 adults, 4 children, 2 dogs (one large), and a cat.

Why would we do this?  I hate that I find myself telling my husband no when he wants to do fun things. Why? I say no because I need to clean!  Our family cannot make these wonderful memories because I need to stay home and clean our stuff.  I want to be able to say yes to all of these impromptu family adventures without getting way behind on housework.

The biggest problem areas…

Toys, Laundry, Dishes, and Paper

I have narrowed down what I spend most of my cleaning time on to these four items. So that is what I want to start with.

First up: DISHES

Dishes are one of those things that are never done… ever.  As soon as I empty the sink, bam… another dish.

Which brings me to

Tiny House Experiment #1

  • get rid of all dishes except for one place setting per person (require each person to wash their own place setting- except of course the baby)
  • get rid of any dishes that would not fit in our 300 square foot tiny house.

Wish me luck! I will post the results soon. 🙂
